  Auto FTP Manager v4.12

  Recorded Profile

The activities you generally perform while working with any file transfer can be recorded and saved as an Automated Profile that can be scheduled so that the recorded actions would be carried out automatically at a specified time. This way, you are spared the trouble of manually perform tasks like deleting, moving and renaming files at regular intervals.

Let us understand how to record different actions and save and edit a recorded profile.

The Quick Connect File Manager has two separate panes for folder 1 and folder 2. Folder 1 is ‘C:\Website’ which is located on my computer and folder 2 is ‘/Media’ located on an FTP server. When click on the green Record button, located in between the two panes, the button turns red to indicate that recording is in progress.

The actions I perform i.e. Transfer, Delete, Rename, Move etc. are recorded. After the work is done, I press on the red Record button to stop recording. The Save Recorded Profile dialog opens. I name the profile “My FTP Tasks” and click Save.

This profile appears in the Automated Transfer Profile list. Right-click on it and select Edit Profile. Click on the Transfer tab.

The List of recorded actions is shown. Use the up and down arrow buttons to arrange the order in which the actions would be performed. You can run the recorded profile to perform the recorded tasks manually by right-clicking on the profile name and selecting Start Transfer. To allow it to perform tasks automatically, click the Configure button and set a Schedule. If you feel that the recorded actions are not enough, you can click on the Add button and include more actions.

You can choose an action you want to add. In this example, a selected file from the local folder would be transferred to the FTP folder.

Now that we have seen how to use the record feature in Auto FTP Manager, you can easily perceive its benefits. You do not need to go through the entire process of creating a profile by specifying the folders between which the transfer would take place. There is no need to specify FTP connection and other details. Actions that you perform repeatedly/regularly get executed automatically when you run the profile. What’s more, you can take the automation to the next level by scheduling the recorded profile so that it independently performs the exact tasks you want at the exact time.
