Captivate the Audience by Converting your PowerPoint Presentation to Video

The most effective way to present your PowerPoint is to demo it “live” to the audience.  However, it may not be possible for you to be there “live”.  Sometimes, you can not be physically present at the event.  So the next best option is to convert your PowerPoint to a video format which can be shown in any media player.  The user does not need PowerPoint installed to view the presentation.

This article describes how to use My Screen Recorder to convert your PowerPoint presentations to a video format.  My Screen Recorder is a screen recording application that captures the PowerPoint presentation as you move through the slides.  Flipping through the slides in your PowerPoint presentation, you could add your own audio narration.

My Screen Recorder captures the audio narration using a microphone and the same time can capture the audio from your speakers that you may have within your PowerPoint presentation.

There are many benefits of converting your PowerPoint to a video format.  You can easily make your presentation available via the Internet or by email.  You can even upload your videos on MySpace, YouTube and several video sharing web sites and blogs.  You can also protect the presentation from unwanted modification.

Converting your PowerPoint presentation to WMV format

  1. Open the PowerPoint presentation you would like to convert to video format.  If you insert a blank slide at the beginning and end of your file, you can smoothly capture the beginning and end of your show.
  2. Start My Screen Recorder.  Make sure that the recording region option is set to Full Desktop by clicking on Region in the File menu (CTRL + D).

  3. Click the Record button on the toolbar to launch the Recording Options window.  If you don't want to record the PowerPoint audio, uncheck the option Record Audio.
  4. You will have to setup the PowerPoint presentation before you start the recording.  In PowerPoint, start the slide show by selecting View show from the Slide Show menu.  You can also use the shortcut key - F5.  Run the slide show at an appropriate speed (give the audience enough time to read the text and look at any drawings or tables).
  5. When you are ready with your PowerPoint presentation, Click OK to start recording.
  6. When your slide show is over, stop the recording using the F9 keyboard shortcut.

Once you have converted your PowerPoint to video, you can conveniently play it anywhere.  My Screen Recorder provides you the freedom to demonstrate your presentations, even on PCs that do not have PowerPoint installed.  Now you can easily distribute your presentation with the help of video and reach out to a larger audience.
