    Q. What is Auto FTP Manager?

It is the ultimate FTP tool designed for web masters and anyone who needs to automate the file transfer process. Auto FTP Manager can connect to any FTP server and automatically upload/download, delete and rename files. You can create action rules to perform FTP task and schedule it to run at a specified day and time.

    Q. What are action rules?

Action rules are file transfer tasks that are performed automatically, whenever an Automated Transfer Profile is started. Each profile can have its own set of Action rules, which can transfer files, delete files, and/or synchronize directories. They can be either started manually, or run automatically on a schedule. You can manually run or schedule them for a specified time.

    Q. What are profiles?

A profile describes a connection between your computer and a remote system. All profiles contain a Source Folder and Destination Folder. Automated Transfer Profiles also contain Action Rules, Filters, and other descriptions of what actions to take after connecting to the remote system.

    Q. I do not want all files to be transferred. Can I choose the type of files to be considered during automated transfer ?

While making an automated transfer, you can choose files or folders to be included for automated transfer. You can even specify the file extensions to be included or excluded by using the Filters options. The new profile wizard guides you through the entire process. You can change these settings anytime you want by editing the automated transfer profile.

    Q. In what modes does Auto FTP Manager transfer data?

Auto FTP Manager supports Auto, ASCII and BINARY data transfer modes. If you select the Auto mode then Auto FTP Manager will use binary mode to communicate with MS Windows servers and ASCII mode for Non-Windows servers.

    Q. What tasks can Auto FTP Manager schedule?

Auto FTP Manager can schedule any Automated Transfer profile. The action rules saved in an Automated Transfer Profile are scheduled on time interval criteria. The intervals can be once, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, etc. You can specify an exact time for these tasks to happen. If you have a registered version of Auto FTP Manager then you can create as many schedules you want for all Automated Transfer Profiles.

    Q. What is a difference between a Quick Connect and Automated Transfer Profile?

Auto FTP Manager is not only about automated transfers. It has all the functions of a standard FTP client. For this purpose we have the Quick Connect Profile which contains the FTP log in information, allowing you to quickly connect to an FTP server and manually perform all FTP functions using a file manager like interface.

The Automated Transfer Profile includes the FTP connection information plus your action rules. This profile is designed to be run automatically with a single click or it can be scheduled to run at a specified time.
