Q. What is Text Speaker?
Text Speaker is a powerful, easy-to-use tool to turn text into
spoken audio. It can either speak text aloud, or convert text files into
audio files. You can select from dozens of free or professional voices
and customize pronunciation, emphasis, volume, speed and pitch to create
the perfect listening experience.

Q. Which file formats does Text Speaker support?
Text Speaker can import and speak or convert files in these formats:
Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX)
Rich Text Format (RTF)
Portable Document Format (PDF)
HTML (HTM)
Text (TXT)

You can download and use any voice on the
free voices page.
You can also purchase and use voices from our

Q. How can I get Text Speaker with voices on CD?
When you purchase Text Speaker, you can choose to have the program
and the included voices delivered on DVD. The DVD will contain Text
Speaker, Mike, Crystal, and any other voices you purchase at the same
time. The cost of the DVD is $15, including shipping.

Q. Can Text Speaker read and convert Microsoft
Word documents?
Yes. Text Speaker can open, read, convert, edit and save Microsoft
Word documents (both DOC and DOCX), even if you do not have Word
installed on your PC. You can also open RTF, HTML, and TXT documents
in Text Speaker.

Q. Do I have to listen to a document from the
beginning?
You can start reading from any point in the document. Move the
cursor to the point at which you want to start reading, then click
Speak >> Speak from Current Cursor Position or press Ctrl+F6.
You can also right-click the mouse and select Speak from Current
Cursor Position from the menu.

Q. Does Text Speaker support languages other than
English?
When the correct voices are installed, Text Speaker can read
documents written in several languages using native accents and
pronunciation. Currently we support the following languages:

Q. I am having trouble installing voices.
What should I do?
Be sure that you have installed Text Speaker before installing the
voices. The installation will fail if Text Speaker is not installed.
After installation, click Tools >> Voice. If you click on
Current Voice, does the new voice appear in the list? If not, exit
from Text Speaker by clicking File >> Exit. (NOTE: Clicking
the Close button is not sufficient, you must click File >> Exit.)
Restart the program and see whether the voices are now available.

Q. How can I convert my documents into MP3 files to use with my
portable audio player?
First open all the documents you would like to convert by using
File >> Open. In the File List at the bottom of the Text
Speaker window, click the checkbox beside File Name to select all
documents. Now, click Speak >> Convert Selected Files to Audio.
Choose an audio format and settings, then click to OK begin
conversion. When conversion is complete, copy the MP3 files to your
portable device.

Q. Does Text Speaker support languages other than English ?
Text Speaker can also display its interface (menus, dialogs, and
