How can I open a DIVX encoded mpeg file to the timeline.

To edit DivX encoded MPEG files, you require an appropriate decoder installed on your computer. In general, with a capable decoder installed, if you are able to open a file in Windows Media Player then you should be able to edit it using Video Edit Magic.
