I am using an Avermedia TV Tuner card to capture free to air digital tv in mpeg format. The codec used is morgan streaming and when I load the file into videomagic, it asks if I want to convert the file to an AVI type file. A yes response to this and auto selecting (amoung others) gives an output AVI file with an audio track but NO VIDEO. I have download but not installed the morgan codec. What will I need to do next. Thanks

Loaded the codec and on the first attempt to load the mpg file without converting got a debug error, video edit magic.exe, file 1386\chkesp.c, line 42, The value of esp was not correctly saved across a function call. This is uaually a result of calling a function declared with one calling convention with a function pointed declared with a different calling convention.

On the second try loaded the non converted mpg file with no debug error but, no video details given (should be 1024 x 576, which is the fixed Avermedia setting) and no video dsiplay when viewed. What next?? sounds maybe like a clash of codecs??

Plays in windows media player AOK, site used was http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/

The downloaded codec file is m3jpegv3.exe and is Morgan multi media M-Jpeg codec v3.0.0.9

On using GSpot to check video codec found that access to the avermedia avmvdec.ax was incorrect and fixed, but this did not change anything. I am no longer getting the Debug error, but when the unconverted MPG is loaded, not video data is shown and then loading to the time line and playing gives no picture.

We did some research on Intervideo MPEG decoder and found that these decoders are not completely compatible with the Microsoft(r) DirectShow(r) technology which is required by Video Edit Magic and many other video editors.

If you have a product from Intervideo like WinDVD, you can try to update it to the latest version from their website. This should fix the problem.

Another option is to uninstall Intervideo's decoder and use a different MPEG 2 decoder like the one from Elecard (http://www.elecard.com/ftp/pub/mpeg/decoder/EMpgDec20.zip).

MPEG 2 files usually take up a lot of processing power and do not yield themselves to easy editing. For this reason, Video Edit Magic attempts to convert an MPEG 2 file before editing. The Media Converter uses a different method of conversion than the rendering process in Video Edit Magic.

You can try adding the unconverted MPEG 2 file to the timeline and then render it (Make Movie) without editing the file to lower the processing requirements. After the movie is made, create a new project and add this movie for further editing instead of the unconverted MPEG 2 file.
