Which is the best compression method to use for the highest quality audio?

For the best audio format is WAV but the file size is large. You can try WMA which has a good balance of size and audio quality.
If you select Windows Media Format in the Make Movie wizard, choose an audio profile with the highest bit-rate. Higher the bit-rate, better is the quality and more is the file size.
