I am trying to covert the MPEG files that I recorded from my camcorder into WMV files and when I do the conversion I get the picture but no sound. I need to convert the files to WMV files for streaming media. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you play the MPEG file in Windows Media Player with sound? If yes, then try renaming the MPEG file to AVI and then convert.

If the file does not play in Windows Media Player then you may be missing the AC3 audio decoder. You can download this codec from:
http://ac3filter.net/

Also, make sure that you are using the latest version of Digital Media Converter. For details, visit:

I have the latest version of DMC, and have installed the AC3 codec from ac3filter.net

No matter what WMV format I chose to convert to, I do not get audio. Renaming to .avi doesn't help.

The input file is MPEG-2 PS, how can I convert this file to WMV?

If you are using a version of Windows prior to Vista, you will need to install the GPL MPEG 2 decoder to convert your MPEG 2 files. You can download it here: http://www.deskshare.com/download/mpeg2decoder.exe. This decoder has built-in support for AC3 audio. Please install this decoder and try your conversion again.

You may also have to open the program Settings, switch to the Compatibility tab, and uncheck all AC3 and MPEG decoders.
