Reducing delay to get real time streaming / broadcasting

I am the chief engineer for a talk radio station that has a remote studio. The air-staff has requested the ability to see each other over our network and possibly stream video in the future. I downloaded the trial software and was quickly able to view images on another machine on our network, but it had about 8 seconds of delay. They want real-time. No need for recording.

Is there some way to reduce the amount of delay between what is in the preview and what is broadcast?

There is always going to be some delay between what is seen on the camera to what is seen on the remote PC.

WebCam Monitor captures from your webcam and broadcasts the stream as quickly as your PC is able to. Having a fast PC helps reduce delay.

Much of the delay is introduced by the Windows Media Player on your PC, you can reduce this. Start your Windows Media Player, click Tools >> Options >> Performance and reduce the buffer time to 0 seconds. This should give you a more 'real-time' view.
