Selecting the 4x write speed for burning a DVD

I have found this DVD Author Plus extremely valuable for my purposes.

However, sometimes I am unable to select the write speed (I prefer 4x) before the burn starts. At what point can I stop the burn before writing to the disc commences?

DVD Author Plus will normally select the fastest supported write speed.

If you would like to change the writing speed, you can select it from the drop down before you click the 'Burn'. Once burning has started, clicking cancel will produce an incomplete DVD.
