I want to convert some video files to MPEG 1 but I am not creating VCD's and I want to use a much higher resolution is there any way to do this in Digital Media Converter.

(I need to be able to play the reulting files using Java Media framework with no additional add ins)

Once you select VCD (MPEG1) at the moment the settings on the properties page are greyed out any ideas anyone ?

When you chose MPEG 1 VCD as the `Convert to Format', the Properties page greys out because the standard properties for making a VCD in MPEG 1 format are listed and you cannot change them.

Digital Media Converter has a Custom MPEG 1 option. If you chose this as the conversion format, you can change Properties like Video Dimension, Frame Rate, Audio Bitrate and Audio Frequency to suit your requirements.
