How to add effects and transitions

How do i add effects and transitions? I purchased the software tonight, I have an understanding of creating the movie file, however i need some help with adding the effects and transitions.

Once you have your video clips on the timeline, applying effects and transitions are very easy. It's a matter of dragging the effect to the location on the timeline where you would like the effect to happen. A list of effects are available in the Effects Tab on the Collections window. Transitions are found on the Transition Tab in the Collections window and can be applied in a similar manner.
