I am using a trial copy but I don't think that should make any difference. I captured a vhs recording as an MPEG.

I converted my MPEG 2 file to a movie, choosing the default compressors. But when I converted back to mpeg, the video quality was poor.

Compressors are used to significantly reduce file size of the final output (movie). A compressor usually accomplishes low file sizes by reducing video quality. Reduction in quality varies from compressor to compressor.

For best quality, select "Uncompressed" as the Video and Audio compressor while making the movie. Since no compressors are used in the process, the quality remains unaltered. However, the file size increases significantly.
