Smart Email Verifier 3.51

Import Wizard

The Import Wizard adds addresses to the E-mail List from the default Windows Address Book, or any database.  The Import Wizard supports all databases, provided that an ODBC driver is installed and correctly configured.

The Import Wizard can be started by selecting Import Wizard from the File menu.  You may also use the Ctrl+I shortcut key combination.

Importing from the Windows Address Book

To import e-mail addresses from the default Windows Address Book:

  1. Start the Import Wizard, select Windows Address Book and click Next.  You will be presented with a list of all e-mail addresses present in your default Windows Address Book.
  2. Select the fields in your address book that you wish to import.
  3. To add the addresses from the address book to the already open session, select Append to the current session.  To add them to a new session, select Open as new session and click Finish to start importing.

Importing from Text, CSV (Comma Separated Values) Files

Smart Email Verifier supports importing from CSV files, which contain information (name, e-mail address, etc.) separated by comma (, ) characters.  To import:

  1. Start the Import Wizard, select CSV (Comma Delimited) and click Next
  2. Click Browse and navigate to the folder that contains the CSV file.  CSV files usually have a ".CSV" extension.
  3. The Import Wizard lists all CSV files present in the selected folder.  Find and select the file you want.
  4. If the first line in the selected CSV file are column names (not data) then make sure that you keep the Consider First Line as Field Names option checked.
  5. Click Next
  6. Select the column from which you want to import addresses.
  7. You may choose to import the entire file or you may specify the record numbers of the first and the last record to import.
  8. To add all the addresses from the file to the already open session, select Append to the current session.  To add them to a new session select Open as new session and click Finish to start importing.

Importing from Microsoft® Excel® and Microsoft Access®

Smart Email Verifier directly supports importing e-mail addresses from Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access files.  To import:

  1. Start the Import Wizard, select ODBC Supported Databases and click Next
  2. Select either Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access and click Next.
  3. Select a Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access file.  All tables/sheets in the file will be listed.
  4. Select the table/sheet from which you want to import and click Next
  5. Select the field from which you want to import e-mail addresses.
  6. You may choose to import the entire database/sheet, or you can specify the record numbers of the first and the last record to import.
  7. To add all the e-mails from the database to the already open session, select Append to the current session.  To add them to a new session select Open as new session and click Finish to start importing.

Importing from other ODBC Supported Databases

To import e-mail addresses from other ODBC supported databases:

  1. Start the Import Wizard, select ODBC Supported Databases and click Next.
  2. Select the Other option and then select the ODBC Driver to use for importing e-mails and click Next.  The databases that you can select will depend on the selected ODBC Driver and its capabilities.  Smart Email Verifier does not check if the correct driver was selected for a Database type.  It will simply attempt to use the driver and any error resulting from this usage will be reported.
  3. Select the database.  You can either browse for it or connect to it.  The method of Database selection will depend on the selected ODBC Driver.  All tables in the database will be listed.
  4. Select the table from which you want to import e-mails and click Next
  5. Select the field from where you want to import e-mails addresses.
  6. You may choose to import the entire database or you may specify the record numbers of the first and the last record to import.  It may be necessary to break up a huge database into chunks.
  7. To add the e-mail addresses from the database to the already open session, select Append to the current session.  To add them to a new session select Open as new session and click Finish to start importing.

Note

Smart Email Verifier is designed to handle large numbers of e-mail addresses you import from different supported databases.  The number imported is equal to the number of records in a database multiplied by the number of fields selected.

Example 1

If three fields are selected and the database contains 1000 records then the total number of e-mails to be imported is 1000 x 3 = 3000.

Example 2

If two fields are selected and the From and To record numbers are 1001 and 2000 respectively then the total number of e-mails to be imported is (2000 - 1001 + 1) x 2 = 2000.  One is added to the difference to include the first and last e-mails (include the bounds).

Smart Email Verifier will not add addresses if they are blank or already present in the E-mail List.
