The Start Recording button on the Device Preview and Monitoring Control Bar records the video (and/or audio) from the device. The recording continues till you stop it manually. Monitoring with alerts, scheduling and other options are de-activated while you record manually. The only activities you can perform while manually recording are taking photos and Broadcasting.

During recording the Start Recording button changes to a blinking Stop Recording button.

You can start recording from multiple cameras by pressing the Start Recording button on the main toolbar. When clicked, this button lets you select any set of cameras to begin recording. The Start Recording button then changes into a flashing Stop Recording button. Pressing this lets you stop any or all cameras that are recording.

All settings that you configure for the Video/Audio Recording alert apply to manual recording.

Though recording continues till you stop it manually, it will stop if the specified space limit (on the drive where the recordings would be stored) is reached. This limit can be set from Tools menu > Camera Monitoring Options > General tab > Additional Storage Constraints.

The Monitoring Log records the start and stop times for manual recording. Switch to the Recordings tab to preview all recordings and photos.
