Digital Media Converter Pro: Configuring M4A Properties

Configuring M4A Properties

  1. After adding files to the list, click Tools >> Settings.
  2. Under General Settings, from the Convert To Audio Format box, select M4A.
  3. Select the Properties tab or Properties button.

M4A is an audio-only variation of the MP4 file format.

M4A Properties

Frequency

Audio Frequency is the number of times per second that the audio signal can be adjusted. Higher frequency values give better sound fidelity, but also increase the size of the audio.   The default is 48000 Hz.

Bitrate:

The Bitrate is the amount of information that is stored in the file to represent each second of audio. The higher the bitrate, the higher the quality but also the larger the size of the file.

Channels

You can choose to create M4A files with either one audio channel (mono) or separate channels for the right and left speakers.  This option does not affect file size.
