Changing General Settings

You can change the default settings in My Screen Recorder from the General tab on the Settings dialog by clicking on the Tools menu > Settings to enable the following features:

Pause before recording starts

My Screen Recorder allows you to start recording in paused mode. Pausing before recording allows you to arrange and position windows and the region rectangle before beginning the recording.

To enable pausing before recording:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Settings.
  2. Make sure that the General tab is selected.
  3. Check the option "Pause before recording starts".
  4. Click OK.

Hiding the Icon in the System Tray

By default, My Screen Recorder minimizes to the task bar and the system tray when you start screen recording. You can choose to hide it while a screen recording is going on. When hidden, only an icon appears in the the system tray and nothing is seen in the task bar.

To place My Screen Recorder in the system tray:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Settings.
  2. Select the General tab if not already selected.
  3. Check the option Hide when Minimized.
  4. Click OK.

Specifying a File Name for Screen Recording

By default, My Screen Recorder asks you to specify a filename for the screen recording. My Screen Recorder can also automatically generate filenames for the screen recordings.

To enable auto generation of filenames for screen recordings:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Settings.
  2. Make sure that the General tab is selected.
  3. Uncheck the option Ask for filename after recording completes.
  4. Click OK.
