Scanning for
chapters:
When you add
VOB files to
the list of
files for
conversion,
Digital
Media
Converter
scans the file for
chapters.
If the file
contains
chapters, a
dialog
explains: |
|
The window above
tells you
more than
just, "The
file has
chapters". Under More
Information,
the software
informs you
that only
the duration
of the first
chapter will
be shown in
Digital
Media
Converter's
listing, and
that when
the file is
converted,
all its
chapters
will be
combined
into a
single file. |
|
Scanning for
Encryption:
Some commercial
DVDs are
encrypted
and cannot
be
manipulated. Along with
the scan for
chapters,
a file is
also scanned
to see if it
is
encrypted.
If Digital
Media
Converter
detects an
encrypted
file, it
warns you. The
software
does not
convert
encrypted
files. |

VOB file Conversion with Digital Media Converter |
|
You can
separate the
chapters of
a VOB file
using the Extract
VOB Chapters
option under
the Tools
menu.
You can see
the
individual
chapters and
choose to
include or
exclude
chapters
from
extraction
by checking
or unchecking
them.
If you do
not use
Extract VOB
Chapters
option all
the chapters
will be
converted
and you will
not be able
to view
individual
chapters in the
listing. |
|
Extract
VOB Chapters
option will
be active
only when
you add a
VOB file
with
chapters. Once you
extract the
chapters you
can choose
to split or delete them. |
|
Split VOB
Files and
Chapters: |
|
You can
split a DVD
into several
sections by
splitting
the VOB file
or a chapter
present in
it, using
Digital
Media
Converter. For
instance,
you can use
the Split
File
function to
convert only
a trailer of
a movie or a
particular
scene. |
|
In the list
of files (or
chapters),
highlight
the file to
split. Either use
the Tools
menu or
select the
file,
right-click
and then
select
Split File. The
following
window
appears: |
|
•
Split the
Source File
manually:
You
can split a
file
manually
using the
preview of
the file.
As you see
the movie in
the preview,
you can
easily
decide where
you need to
split it. Drag the
slider to
the point
where you
want Digital
Media
Converter to
begin
including
video, and
select
Mark In. Now drag the
slider to
the end of
the
selection
you want
included and
click
Mark
Out. You
can use the
preview to
easily
identify
where to
start and
end the
conversion. When you
click Add,
the section
you have
marked is
added to the
conversion
list. You
can mark and
add another
section or
click OK. |

Split the
Source File
Automatically:
There are
three ways
to split
files
automatically. If you
choose to
Limit each
clip to,
you can
specify the
duration and
Digital
Media
Converter
automatically
splits the
movie after
that time-
for
instance,
every 30
minutes. If
you select
Split
into,
you tell
Digital
Media
Converter to
break the
file into a
certain
number of
equal-length
pieces. Finally,
Auto fit to
tells the
program to
split the
movie into
pieces small
enough to
fit a
particular
kind of
disk, either
single-layer
DVD,
double-layer
DVD or VCD. |
|
You can
manage DVD
content
using
Digital
Media
Converter. A
DVD may
contain a VOB file
with
chapters. You can
combine
these
chapters to
make a
single file,
or extract
selected
chapters to
individual
files. Different VOB
files don’t
get
combined;
it’s the
chapters
within a VOB
file that
are merged.
Digital
Media
Converter
enables you
to
split files
in a DVD,
combine
chapters
into one file
and convert
DVD video
and audio to
many
different
audio and
video
formats. |
