I'm not sure if I'm in the proper thread. And please pardon my ignorance, I know absolutely NOTHING about files, or converting them, but I have to learn. I'm a court reporter. I type court proceedings and present a typed transcript to the attorney. My software allows me to sync the video with the transcript, similar to closed captioning, which is an additional service I am now planning to offer.

I will be receiving videos of interrogations from investigators. I do not know what format their DVD or VHS will be in. My question is: Will DeskShare convert any type of file? I plan to offer this service nationwide, so there is no telling what sort of file formats I will be receiving. I don't want to be caught off guard and not have the software capable of handling their video.

Any insight will be truly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Video Desk (the area you posted this in) is a service we provide to put your video files on the Internet, so people can view them in web browsers.

We make a product, Digital Media Converter Pro, which can convert almost any video format into almost any other format:

If the video comes as a VHS tape, you will need to capture it (turn it into a computer file) before converting it. Another DeskShare product, Video Caster, can capture video. You'll also need a "TV Tuner Card" for your computer, so you can plug the VCR into your PC.

Thank you.
