What types of verification does this software carry out? Does it check the existence of the destination domain or does it check the validity of the user account?

The SEV carries out three levels of verification: Syntax, DNS and SMTP.
By default, it checks the Syntax of the e-mail address and the existence of the domain. If you want higher levels of verification, it can even carry out SMTP verification for you. To do so, point to the Session menu, click on Verification Type and then select SMTP. You will now see a column appear for the SMTP Verification results. Click on the Start Verification button on the toolbar to start the SMTP verification.
