Can I use USB cameras to have surveillance over my entire house?

I would like to setup 3 USB webcams; front door, back door, and garage.

Let say I have these 3 webcams in place and estimated distance from PC; front door=40ft, back door 70ft, and garage 100ft.

What kind of cable do I use to connect the USB from the webcam to the USB port on the PC?

The maximum length of a standard USB cable (for USB 2.0 or earlier) is 5 metres, or about 15 feet. There are a number of USB extenders that will allow you to use a USB connection up to 150 feet, but the cost of these extenders exceeds $150. For a lower cost you can purchase IP cameras to replace the USB cameras you have.
