I need to use MP4 files in Video Edit Magic. Are there any plugins available?

You will need a MPEG-4 decoder which is freely available from:
http://www.deskshare.com/download/mpegabledsdecoder.exe

This will allow you to use MPEG-4 files with Video Edit Magic.

Hi

I downloaded the decoder, yet when I try to load an MP4 file, it still tells me to convert the file to AVI format, and also steps through options to convert my MP4 file - am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

MPEG 4 files cannot be used in the timeline directly. Installing the mpegable decoder will enable Video Edit Magic to automatically convert MPEG 4 videos to the AVI file format. You will need to step through the process of converting the file to AVI format. After the conversion, Video Edit Magic will ask you to insert the converted file in the Collections window. Now you can edit the file by adding it to the timeline. You can always make the movie in any format you desire.

If you are getting "No video information" in the original file then you need to download and install the following free codecs:

Free MPEGable codec (for MPEG-4 files):
http://www.deskshare.com/download/mpegabledsdecoder.exe

Free MPEG 2 codec:
http://www.deskshare.com/download/mpeg2decoder.exe

Now open the file in Windows Media Player. Ensure that the file plays properly in Windows Media Player before converting. If the file plays with both video and audio, you should be able to convert it with Digital Media Converter.
