Hi,
I just converted a DVR-MS file to an AVI file. I noticed the file size for the converted AVI file was a great deal larger than the original DVR-MS file I started with..To be exact the converted file is 11GB!! Shouldn't the AVI file size be smaller than the DVR-MS file?
... Also I wanted to see the file size of a DV-AVI file size compared with the AVI file I just converted ... and the DV-AVI file is actually less in size (1.36GB) as compared to the AVI.
Is it just me or shouldn't these numbers be the other way around?

Thank you

It is very likely that the first AVI file you created used MJPEG video encoding and no audio compression. While files made this way have extremely high quality, they are also very large.

If you have not already done so, we recommend installing the Xvid video compressor, which you can download here:

http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

When making an AVI, click on Properties, and set the video compression to Xvid, and the audio compression to MP3 or CCITT u-law, and the final AVI file will be much smaller.
