Masking an Area

The Mask feature allows you to block motion detection in a particular area.  You can select an area to mask in the preview window.  This reduces the possibility of unwanted triggering of alerts.  For example, you want to monitor your garden but do not want the motion on the road outside it to be taken into account, you can mask the portion where the road appears in the preview window.

Click on Tools >> Mask or the mask icon on the toolbar to use this feature.  A message box appears and informs you about how to select and mask an area in the preview window.  Click OK to close the message box.  The mask icon on the toolbar changes to the unmask icon.

You will see a rectangular box with red dotted lines on the preview window.  Move it to the part you want to mask and resize it by dragging along the edges of the box.  You can resize the mask rectangle or disable this feature only when monitoring is turned off.  The Log shows an entry telling you that motion would not be detected in the masked area.

To unmask the selected area for an individual camera, open the Tools menu and click the Unmask option or click on the unmask icon.  Open the File menu and click Refresh Device List to unmask and stop the previews of all cameras

Mask settings persist i.e., are saved and remain unchanged when you switch between cameras, close the application or when a schedule is run.
