I'm trying to convert dvr-ms files (digital radio) to either WMA or MP3 on Vista and am receiving the "the mpeg decoder on this PC is not the latest version" dialog. I've downloaded the mpeg2decoder.exe and run it, restarted Media Converter (latest version), but still get the error. I can play these files back in MCE and WMP, so can obviously decode them.

This affects files recorded both in Vista MCE and MCE 2005.

Any ideas?

The error message you are seeing is not produced by Digital Media Converter. It is probably coming from a third-party MPEG decoder installed on your computer.

To fix this problem, click on the Tools menu and choose Settings. Switch to the Compatibility tab and uncheck all MPEG decoders. (The free MPEG 2 decoder you downloaded from our web site cannot be disabled and will still work.) Try the conversion again and the problem should be eliminated.
