| Security Monitor Pro: General Settings |
General Settings
The General section of the Application Settings dialog controls the behavior of the program when it is launched for the first time, the power and screen saver options, general appearance of the application and logging options.
To configure General Settings, click on Tools >> Application Settings >> General

Launch Security Monitor Pro When Windows Starts: This option saves your time by automatically launching the application when you start your PC.
Minimize application to system tray when closed: If this option is selected, the application will be shown only in the System Tray. When you close the application, the icon is visible in the System Tray and not on the Taskbar.
Disable low power schemes (Standby, Hibernate, Sleep) after Application Launch: Many computers are set to automatically go into a suspended mode, or turn themselves off, if they are left idle for a certain amount of time. When the computer is controlling a surveillance system this is usually undesirable, so check this option if your PC will be used for this purpose.
Disable Screen Saver during monitoring: If you will be monitoring the camera feeds in the Preview area, you may wish to disable the screen saver to avoid a blank or erased screen.
Cycle cameras every n seconds: If you have more than four cameras installed in Security Monitor Pro and wish to observe the feeds using the Preview, you can check this box and pick a cycle rate. Security Monitor Pro will automatically swap the cameras at the interval you select, letting you keep an eye on all your cameras
Hide Mode Options
The default hot key combination is CTRL+ALT+H. You can change the hot keys by clicking on Edit.
Media File Options
Save video recordings, photos and logs in: By default, all media files such as video recordings, photos and logs will be saved on your PC in Documents >> SMP Data >> Media. You have the option to change the default folder by clicking on Browse.
Auto delete files older than n days: This method is a good choice if you know that an important file will be looked at (and copied to a new location) within a set time after it is recorded.
Auto delete oldest files if n GB left on drive: In order to avoid completely filling up a hard drive, you can choose to delete the oldest file whenever Security Monitor Pro is launched, and only the set amount of free space is available.
Event Logging Options
Save and Clear Event Log every n hours: To avoid creating Event Logs that are extremely long and difficult to search, you can select this option. By default, after every 1 hour, the current log will be saved with a name that includes the date and time (to easily search the record of a particular event) and a new log will be created.
Reset Information Messages
If you wish to reactivate the messages, click on the Reset Messages button.
Note: This button will be available, if you have checked the "Do not show this message again" dialog earlier.
