My Screen Recorder: Changing Frame Options |
Changing Frame Options
By default, My Screen Recorder creates screen recording with:
- Frame Rate: 5 frames/second.
- Key Frame Rate: 1 key frame every 80 frames.
The default settings of the Frame Rate and the Key Frame Rate are optimum for most types of recordings, but you may try experimenting with these settings for better results.
Frame Rate
The Frame Rate defines the number of frames to record per second. You can make it higher if you want smoother playback, especially for videos containing a lot of motion. However, higher frame rate also results in bigger file sizes. On the other hand, if you know that most of the time there will be little or no activity, you can also choose to reduce the Frame Rate.
Changing the frame rate affects:
- Recording's file size: The lower the frame rate, the lower the file size.
- Processor usage: The lower the frame rate, the lower the processor usage.
- Video quality: The lower the Frame Rate, the jerkier motion on the screen will appear.
To change the Frame Rate:
- On the Tools menu, click Settings.
- Select the Video tab.
- Select the Frame Rate option. Move the slider to the new Frame Rate value.
- Click OK.
Key Frame Rate
The Key Frame Rate defines how often full frames are saved as AVI files. A high value of key frame rate results in small file size but lower quality videos.
Changing the Key Frame Rate affects:
- Recording's file size: The higher the value of Key Frame Rate, the lower the file size.
- Processor usage: The higher the value of Key Frame Rate, the lower the processor usage.
- Video quality: The higher the value of Key Frame Rate, the lower the video quality.
To change the Key Frame Rate:
- On the Tools menu, click Settings.
- Select the Video tab.
- Move the Key Frame Rate slider to specify a new Key Frame Rate.
- Click OK.
