BlackBerry Output Formats

Rip DVD Plus can create files to play on BlackBerry smartphones.

BlackBerry Pearl/Flip Settings

By default, the video file format is MPEG-4 (*.mp4) and the compressor is XviD Encoder.  The frame rate and bitrate are 25 Fps and 800 Kbps respectively. 

By default, the audio compressor is Advanced Audio Codec (AAC-LC).  However, you can also choose MP3 (MPEG 1 Layer 3) as the compressor.  The frequency is set at 44100 Hz, bitrate at 128 Kbps and audio channel on Stereo.

For this device profile, you also have the option to choose Windows Media Video (*.wmv) as the video file format and Windows Media Video 8 (default) or Windows Media Video 7 as the compressor.  If you do select this option, the frame rate and bitrate will be 25 Fps and 512 Kbps respectively.  The audio compressor will be Windows Media Video 8.  The frequency will be set at 44100 Hz, bitrate at 128 Kbps and audio channel on Stereo.

BlackBerry Curve Device Profile

You can select any of the 4 video file formats: MPEG-4 (default), AVI, 3GP or Windows Media Audio.  By default, the compressor is XviD Encoder, the frame rate is 25 Fps and the bitrate is 800 Kbps

The default audio compressor used is Advanced Video Codec (AAC), however it can be changed to MP3 (MPEG 1 Layer 3).  The frequency is 44100 Hz, the bitrate is 128 Kbps and the audio channel is Stereo

BlackBerry Bold Device Profile

You can select any of the 3 video file formats: MPEG-4 (default), AVI or Windows Media Audio.  By default, the compressor is XviD Encoder; however you have the option to select Intel(R) H.264 (AVC) as the compressor.  The default frame rate is 25 Fps and the bitrate is 800 Kbps.

BlackBerry Storm Device Profile

You can select any of the 3 video file formats: MPEG-4 (default), AVI or Windows Media Audio.  By default, the compressor is Intel(R) H.264 (AVC), however it can be changed to XviD Encoder.  The default frame rate is 25 Fps and the bitrate is 800 Kbps.

The four devices listed above have similar default settings.  You can change or customize all the settings according to your BlackBerry device specifications.
