Automate Screen
Recordings
My Screen Recorder Pro is an application
designed to help create
presentation material or
creating an audio-visual
backup of activities
performed on a PC for
future reference as well
as distribution.
Its user interface lets
you create screen
recordings, convert
files and record audio
in unobtrusively,
quickly and easily.
But the jewel in its
crown is automation of
recording, conversion
and publishing tasks.
It performs the tasks
you specify, on its own,
without your having to
launch the application
and manually begin the
process. In this
article, we will briefly
discuss the various
automation features of
My Screen Recorder Pro.
There are two ways to
automate screen
recording: Schedule
Recording and Command
Line Parameters.
Schedule Recording
You can schedule screen
and/or audio recordings
to start automatically
at a specified time.
You can record your
favorite website or
anything on your Windows
desktop. The
recording begins at the
given time (provided My
Screen Recorder Pro is
running), continues for
the specified duration,
and stops. This is
useful in situations
when you know the exact
time something will
happen, for instance,
your favorite internet
broadcast. The
schedule gives you the
ability to choose not
just the time, but also
the day of the week to
start a screen
recording. You can
select any weekday or
combination of days.
- On the Tools menu,
click Schedule
Recording and check Enable
Schedule box.
Your desktop
screen
and/or your
audio is
recorded on
the
scheduled
day (s),
time and
duration.
(You select
whether to
record
video, audio
or both on
the General tab of
the Options window).
- If you
want to
schedule the
recording of
a website,
you have to
choose the Launch a
website and
start
recording option along
with Enable
Schedule.
Give the
website URL
in the URL to
Launch box.
In this
example, we
have given
the URL of
DeskShare.

- Give the
time in the Start
recording at box.
Specify the
duration in
the and
record for box.
By default,
the
recording
gets
scheduled
for five
minutes
after you
check the Enable
Schedule option and
the default
recording
duration is
thirty
minutes.
- In Select the
days to
perform
recording check the
days of the
week that
you want to
record on,
depending on
when you
want to use
the
automating
facility.
You can
record any
number
between one
and all
seven days
each week.
Click OK.
- Set My
Screen
Recorder
Pro's
recording Region so that the
events you
wish to
capture will
be seen.
For
instance, if
the Region
is set to Rectangle,
be sure the
window you
want to
record is
within that
rectangle.
You won't
necessarily
be there to
move it when
recording
starts.
Command Line Parameters
You can start recording
from the command line,
using Command Line Parameters.
This feature lets you
record the desktop of a
PC over the local
network or to start My
Screen Recorder Pro from
another application.
You can start, pause and
stop recordings without
actually opening a My
Screen Recorder Pro
window or being
physically present at
the PC you want to
record on. You can
write your own scripts,
and use these parameters
to trigger screen
recording. This
can help you detect a
bug or track user
activities whenever they
access sensitive
information.
Automated Conversion and
Publishing
Apart from the
screen-recording
automation options
mentioned above, My
Screen Recorder Pro also
has the Auto Tasks
option that converts and
publishes screen
recordings on its own
without any user
intervention. Your
recordings are converted
and published in the
background while My
Screen Recorder Pro is
still being used to make
screen recordings.
Automated conversion and
publishing can save a
lot of time when you
make multiple screen
recordings that have to
be regularly published
to an FTP server.

Your Work with Auto
Tasks.
The automation features
of My Screen Recorder
Pro let you capture
screen recordings on
your PC without starting
the recording process
manually. Files
can be published and
converted automatically
in the background while
My Screen Recorder Pro
is still making screen
recordings.
