Adding an IP Camera
IP Cameras are digital video cameras that can transmit video recordings and images to your PC through an Internet connection. They do not plug directly into your computer like webcams.
To connect a new IP camera, click Camera >> Add New Camera and select the option Network IP Camera.

In the IP Camera Settings, select the Camera Brand and Camera Model from the drop-down lists. Specify the IP Address or Domain Name and Port. The Video Resolution drop down list allows you to select a preview resolution for IP Cameras that offer multiple resolutions. You have the option to choose the Frame Rate according to your CPU capacity. If you want, you can name the camera in the Camera Display Name option. By default, the Camera Brand and Model will be displayed as the name of the camera.
To test if Security Monitor Pro is able to connect to the specified IP Camera, click Test Camera. You can view the video stream in the preview window.
Some cameras require authentication to view the video stream. Click Camera requires authentication and specify the User Name and Password required for authentication.
Use the Rotate Camera Preview option when the camera is mounted upside-down, for instance when hanging from a ceiling or under a shelf. The camera view, and all recorded videos and photos, are rotated by specified angle. You can rotate your camera view by 1 degree up to 360 degrees.
If Your IP Camera is Not Listed
Security Monitor Pro supports different types of IP cameras. Selecting a specific model tells Security Monitor Pro which URL to use to get the video stream. If your IP Camera is not listed then try selecting the Generic IP Camera from the Camera Brand drop-down list and specify the URL. To find the URL for the video stream (in MJPEG format), please refer to your IP Camera's user manual.
A profile can be created when the brand of a camera you want to use is not listed in the Camera Brand dropdown. To create a profile of a camera, you need to provide the details like the camera’s manufacturer, model name, and IP address. In order to view the video stream, you must also provide a username and password. Send this information using the contact form http://www.deskshare.com/contact_tech.aspx. The next time you use the application, your camera details are listed in the dropdown lists.
When you do not know the IP Address of your camera
This feature allows you to search for an IP camera in your network when you do not know the exact IP address.

If you want to search for the IP camera address then select the IP Camera Brand and Model (Optional). Next, specify the IP address range to search. You can search a range between X.X.X.0 to X.X.X.255. You must know the Port Number. The default is set to port 80. Click Search to begin scanning each IP address for the camera.
Security Monitor Pro allows you to search a IP Address range by the Camera Brand. The camera model is optional. If a camera is found then a list for valid models are displayed for you to select and add. For example, if you just know that your IP Camera is of Panasonic brand and you don't know the exact model, then Security Monitor Pro searches and suggests a valid camera model. Choosing the camera model is important so you can access the full range of controls for the camera.
