Changing Camera Properties
With Security Monitor Pro, you can change the camera properties from within the application. Camera properties vary depending on the type and manufacturer of the camera. However, the basic properties are the same for most cameras. If you feel that your camera settings are not optimized for the environment you are monitoring, you can experiment and see which settings give the best results. For example, if you are monitoring a poorly lit area, you can try increasing the brightness. On the other hand, if you are monitoring a bright area like the inside of your store, then you can try changing the backlight compensation. One common setting compensates for fluorescent light flicker, which tends to be around 60 Hz in the United States and 50 Hz in Europe.
To change camera properties like brightness, contrast, flicker, backlight compensation etc.:
- On the File menu, click Camera Properties.
- From the list of cameras that appears, select a camera, then click View Camera Properties.
- For a connected camera, a window will open allowing you to change settings. For IP cameras, that camera's settings web page will open in your default web browser.
- The View Camera Properties Options window remains open. You can select another camera and change its properties.
Camera Properties are driver dependent. One or more properties may be different for different cameras.
These instructions let you change settings for the camera itself. To change the settings for how Security Monitor Pro uses the camera (monitoring, etc.), click Tools > Camera Monitoring Options > Video/Audio Devices > Edit.
