Digital Media Converter: Configuring DV-AVI Properties

Configuring DV-AVI Properties

DV-AVI is a type of Audio Video Interleaved (AVI) file where the video has been compressed to conform to Digital Video (DV) standards. Movies made in the DV-AVI format can be exported to a Digital video camera attached to your PC.  You can also select NTSC or PAL depending on the standards supported by your Digital Video camera.

To configure DV-AVI, click on Formats >> DV-AVI >> Configure or you can click on the Select Format icon >> DV-AVI >> Configure.

There are two types of DV-AVI files:

  1. Type 1: The multiplexed Audio-Video is kept in its original multiplexing and saved together into the Video section of the AVI file.  Most professional-level DV software, including non-linear editing programs supports Type 1.
  2. Type 2: Similar to Type 1.  However, audio is also saved as an additional audio stream into the file.

By default, Digital Video AVI Type 1 is selected for the compressor and the Video Standard is NTSC.
