Digital Media Converter Pro: Extract Only Audio

Extract Only Audio

This section discusses the way to save only the audio portion of a media file.  For instance, you may wish to save only the sound track of a video file.

To save only the audio, simply add the file to the list, then click the Settings button on the toolbar.  Select Audio Formats, and pick any audio format from the list.  Click the Convert button on the toolbar to create your audio-only files.

Example

To select a specific song from a file and save only the audio:

  1. After adding the file to the list, select the file from which you want to select a particular song.
  2. On the Tools menu click Split File.
  3. Drag the slider to the start position of the song and click Mark In.
  4. Drag the slider to the stop position of the song and click Mark Out.
  5. To add this selected range as a new entry in the list, click Add button.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Now click Settings.
  8. Select Audio Formats.
  9. From the list, select WAV, MP3, OGG, AAC, AC3, AMR, M4A, or one of the WMA selections.  Which format to use will depend on how you plan to use the file.  For instance, if your portable audio player only plays MP3 files, you will want to select MP3.
  10. To configure the settings for the selected format select the Properties tab.
  11. Click OK when done.
  12. Click Convert.
