To convert Media Center PC digital recorded files (.dvr-ms) Windows XP SP2 or Vista system is needed. To find out which Service Pack of Windows XP is currently installed on your PC: On the Start menu, click Run and then Enter "winver".

DVR-MS recorded files contain MPEG-2 video and audio streams and requires an MPEG-2 decoder to be installed. DeskShare hosts a GPL MPEG-2 Decoder that can be downloaded and installed from: http://www.deskshare.com/download/mpeg2decoder.exe.
